Dennis and I were first introduced to the Paso Fino while visiting our
oldest son in California. We were visiting people Brett was doing
business with and were invited to go riding. Dennis rode a Paso Fino and
I rode a Quarter Horse. After the ride was finished, Dennis asked what
kind of horse he had ridden and we were told it was a Paso. He kept
talking about how smooth this horse was and if I ever got another horse,
I should look at a Paso Fino. I had never heard of a Paso Fino…. My
first horse was a Quarter Horse and was my Christmas present when I was
eight years old. She had a filly I raised and I still had the both of
them when we were married. After our second son was born I had no place
to keep them and had to let them go to another home. I then waited over
twenty years for another horse. In 1998, I saw an article about the Paso
Fino in a magazine. I remembered how much Dennis had enjoyed riding that
horse in California, even though horses had never been his favorite
thing to be around. We went on the internet looking for someone near
enough to visit and found Grove Creek Farm in Illinois, owned by Leonard
and Michelle Branson. One ride on their horses was all it took for me to
fall in love with this breed. Dennis fell in love with a six month old
filly, Mella de MiLe. I bought her for his Christmas present that year.
She is still one of our favorites and will never leave this farm. Our
problem was we kept falling in love!! We now have seventy Paso Finos. We
have raised many of them and hope that the ones that do go to new homes
are loved as much as they were here. We have found the Paso Fino to be
smart, easy to train, and we love all their individual personalities.
We enjoy having people visit and showing them the horses we love.
